 1635 The Boston Latin Elementary School was founded. It is still in operation today, making it the oldest public school in America.

1915 The first drive in theatre, “Theatre de Guadalupe” opened in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It was an auditorium that had indoor parking for about 40 cars. The first outdoor drive ins opened in 1933.

1985 Coca-Cola announced that it was changing its 99-year-old formula and introducing what was to become known as “New Coke.” Less than three months in, due to public outcry and poor sales, they brought back the old formula under the name “Coke Classic.”

 

Music History:

1969 – The Who performed their rock opera Tommy live in its entirety for the first time in London—helping redefine what a rock concert could be.
