South Haven man killed in Indiana crash

A South Haven man has been killed in a crash in Indiana.

Indiana State Police there say the crash occurred around 11 a.m. on Wednesday on US-31 near State Road 16 in Miami County, southwest of Fort Wayne.

A vehicle driven by an 88-year-old Indiana man on State Road 16 pulled into the intersection with US-31 and into the path of a vehicle driven by 79-year-old Joseph Wilhelm of South Haven. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 79-year-old woman in the vehicle with him was airlifted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The South Haven Rotary tells us Wilhem and his wife moved in retirement to South Haven in recent years and joined the Rotary Club in 2023.
