Cass County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a suspicious death in Newberg Township.
Sheriff Clint Roach says deputies were called around 8 a.m. Thursday to a home in the 11-thousand block of Born Street for a welfare check.
When no one answered the door, deputies saw a man lying on the kitchen floor through a window. Several dogs prevented them from going inside, and Animal Control was called to remove the animals. Once inside, deputies found a woman with injuries. She was taken by ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
Deputies confirmed the man was dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and names are being withheld until family is notified.
