1827 The first recorded public swimming pool opened in Boston, Massachusetts.
1886 Steve Brodie jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge from a height of 135 feet. (That’s equal to the height of a 14-story building.) He landed foot first in the East River. Supposedly a liquor dealer offered to back a saloon for Brodie if he made the jump. He used his fame from the jump to open his saloon and appeared in vaudeville musicals.
1904 According to some accounts, the ice cream cone was invented by Charles E. Minches of St. Louis, Missouri when he came up with the idea of filling a pastry cone with two scoops of ice cream. It made its debut at the World’s Fair in St. Louis that same year.

1989 Ringo Starr began his first tour since The Beatles stopped touring in 1966. He introduced his ‘All-Starr Band’ of 70’s stars. BTW there were 14 variations of the All-Starr band. Some of the players included Joe Walsh, Bruce Springsteen, Todd Rundgren and Dave Edmunds.
