A 23-year-old woman from Elkhart, Indiana has been killed in a single-vehicle crash in Cass County. Michigan State Police say she was a passenger in a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was on Corey Lake Road when the driver lost control and hit a tree. Both were ejected and she died at a hospital. The driver is a 26-year-old man from Jones and he is in critical condition.
Troopers say it appears neither was buckled up at the time of the crash, and excessive speed appears to have been a factor. The crash happened just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Corey Lake Road and County Line Road in Newberg Township. No names have been released.
