Are you ready for a road trip in an electric vehicle? Many drivers still suffer from “range anxiety,” worried about running out of juice before they can find a charging station. But Michigan’s Chief Mobility Officer Trevor Pawl says they’re working on a number of ideas to make sure that won’t be a problem in the future.
“We also look at new solar innovations that can supply power for charging, or there are even points to look at old infrastructure like from a lighthouse and rethink that to help charge a vehicle, or even energy storage innovations. There are some technologies that actually create their own kinetic energies in the middle of nowhere.”
On this weeks edition of the Talking Michigan Transportation podcast, Pawl says Michigan is working with nearby states including Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois to make sure drivers can travel across state lines without worrying about running out of power.
