Whirlpool will purchase InSinkErator from Emerson Electric Company for $3 billion in cash. The Benton Harbor-based appliance maker expects the sale to close in the fourth quarter of this year. The deal has been approved by both companies Board of Directors and remains subject to regulatory approval. InSinkErator will operate separate from Whirlpool’s North American Region and will stay headquartered in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. The company was founded in 1938 and has more than a 70% market share for its products and is expected to generate sales of around $650 million for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022. Whirlpool expects to generate revenue by capitalizing on InSinkErator’s leading consumer brand preference, with an installed base that is fives times larger than the rest of the industry driving a recurring sales profile.
