If you like fresh produce and vegetables, you may want to check out one of the many farmers markets throughout Michigan this summer. Many are opening this weekend according to Hailey Lamb of the Michigan Farmers Market Association, and some have already opened.
“We’re really hearing from market managers for the first time in a long time it really feels back to normal,” Lamb told Michigan News Network. “Live music is back in the market, and more customers are getting out and really enjoying their time there.”
Lamb says the farmers markets also give you the opportunity to buy local, keeping money in your community. Lamb says with inflation, you might be able to save a little money at a farmers market on items in season, and she says many do accept food assistance benefits.
