The Boys and Girls Club’s South Haven Youth of the Year is 14-year-old Yoselin Cortez. She was given the honor at a celebration at South Haven High School Thursday and will now represent the Boys and Girls Clubs South Haven High School Campus in the organization’s club-wide competition on February 24. That competition will also include the Benton Harbor and St. Joseph Youths of the Year. The Boys and Girls Club says Cortez joined with the goal of making new friends. She says joining pushed her our of her comfort zone and has helped. She’s a member of her school’s soccer team and an avid reader as well as part of South Haven High School’s theater program. She joined the Boys and Girls Club when it started in South Haven last year. She has a goal of becoming a crime scene investigator.
