There’s been a change to this year’s lineup for the Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan Speaker Series. It’s dropped television personality Lara Logan after she was dropped by talent agency UTA this year. That was due to comments Logan made late last year on Fox News Primetime in which she compared Dr. Anthony Fauci to Nazi criminal Josef Mengele. The Mendel Center’s Mike Nadolski tells WSJM News Logan had become a distraction.

“I don’t really want to give any more air to those comments, except to say that they were out of bounds and she was given opportunities to walk it back and she didn’t,” Nadolski said. “Not just by us, but my understanding is that even Fox News has dropped her.”

The Economic Club has worked with UTA to schedule speakers for years, and after UTA dropped her, it did the same. Nadolski says there will be more changes coming to the club’s lineup for the season.

“Unfortunately, we have another speaker coming up that we’re looking for a date change. We may have to postpone. And we have a speaker we may be adding, so two big changes to the lineup.”

Nadolski couldn’t yet name the speaker who may reschedule. LMC has not yet announced a replacement speaker for Logan. She was scheduled to speak on May 10.
