The Michigan Department of Transportation will close several of its rest areas in the coming month for maintenance work. In southwest Michigan, the Watervliet rest area on westbound I-94 will be closed September 9 through September 29. Additionally, Americans with Disabilities Act improvements will be made at the New Buffalo Welcome Center on eastbound I-94 in Berrien County from September 28, through November 1, although the facility will remain open. The work being done at rest areas is also to make them ADA compliant.
