Congressman Tim Walberg says he’s working with local, state, and federal officials to help communities recover after Friday’s severe storms and tornadoes that caused deaths and widespread damage across his district.
Walberg is offering condolences to the families of victims.
“My heart goes out to you, your families, your friends, at this deep loss, also to those who have been injured,” Walberg said. “Truly, my prayers and my thoughts are with you and will continue.”
Walberg says his office is doing all it can and thanks both government and non-profit responders.
“I have appreciated the contact from FEMA as well as personal contact from the Secretary of Homeland Security offering all federal assistance that will be and can be available, and we will keep in contact with that.”
Walberg also warned everyone about possible severe weather again Tuesday, and tells residents to watch for scams and use resources like 211 for assistance.
Walberg highlighted shelters and resource centers set up by groups like the American Red Cross and encouraged anyone who wants to help to volunteer through established organizations rather than going to affected areas on their own.
