The South Haven Regional Business Hub has now launched its free 2026 Small Business Startup Series, intended to help entrepreneurs and early-stage business owners grow their companies.

Business Hub Director Elizabeth Bernhard tells us each session will cover a different topic.

These standalone workshops are designed to help that budding entrepreneur think through a business plan to get a solid business foundation so that they can keep their business moving forward,” Bernhard said. “And the six series, they’re standalone, which means a person can come to one or all six sessions.”

The first session was held this week, focusing on the Business Model Canvass. The next session, on January 29, will be about accounting basics.

Bernhard says talking to small business owners, she knows they are looking for this kind of guidance.

They want more support. They want technical expertise with the foundational business skills that they don’t have. So a lot of entrepreneurs have a really great idea or they have their subject matter knowledge and expertise, but they don’t necessarily know accounting. They may not know finance. They may not know marketing and digital marketing. So they come to the hub to gain the essential support of services that they need so that they can really focus on what they’re passionate about, which is what their business idea is there for.”

The workshops continue through March at Lake Michigan College in South Haven and are open to businesses up to five years old across five Southwest Michigan counties.
