24 years ago, today… 2001 – 8:46am and 9:03am. Hijackers from the group al-Qaeda crash two jets into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Shortly after, both towers collapsed. A third jet crashed into the Pentagon. A fourth plane crashed into a rural field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The official count 3016 perished in the attacks.
1954 The Miss America Pageant made its network TV debut. Miss California Lee Ann Meriwether was crowned the winner.
50 years ago, in 1974 Little House on the Prairie debuted starring Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert.
