1878 – the American Bar Association was founded in Saratoga, New York by 75 lawyers from 20 states.

1887 – Dan Casey struck out in the 9th inning of a game against the New York Giants.  Sports columnist Ernest L. Thayer went home and began work on a poem entitled Casey at the Bat.

1959, Hawaii was admitted as the 50th State.

 

Music History:

1987, “Dirty Dancing” was released starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze. The movie soundtrack was full of classic hits and produced to #1 songs for Patrick Swayze, Eric Carmen and of course Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. (I’ve Had) The Time of my Life.
