1964 The Beatles arrived for their first trip to the U.S. and were greeted by screaming mobs at the airport. The NBC evening news didn’t consider their arrival important enough to cover it.

1988 America’s Most Wanted debuted on Fox. The crime show that asked citizens to call a crime hotline to help capture fugitives. It was hosted by John Walsh, whose son was kidnapped and murdered. The show helped capture over 1,200 fugitives.

Music History:

1976 – Paul Simon started a three-week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ’50 Ways to Leave Your Lover’, the singer’s first solo US No.1.
