1925: John T. Scopes, a science teacher in Tennessee, was charged with violating the state’s Butler Act, which made it illegal to teach evolution in Tennessee schools. The trial was based on the charge he did unlawfully and willfully teach in Tennessee schools’ certain theories that deny the story of the divine creation of man as told in the Bible. He was found guilty on July 21st and received a $100 fine.

1962 Telstar I was launched sending the first commercial transmission of live television via satellite.

1985 After much public outcry and poor sales, Coca-Cola announces it is bringing back its original formula and calling it “Coca-Cola Classic.” The Coke flavor had been changed to New Coke less than three months earlier. New Coke remained available and was renamed Coke II in 1992 and discontinued altogether in 2002.
