 1742 Ben Franklin invented the Stove.

1776 Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Ben Franklin, Roger Sherman and Robert Livingstone were appointed to prepare the Declaration of Independence.

1805 A fire that started in the morning burned Detroit to the ground by afternoon. All that remained were a few brick chimneys. It was believed to have started when a local baker failed to extinguish the ashes from his pipe when he knocked the tobacco out. Amazingly, no one died in that fire.

1982 E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial opened in theatres. Ferris Bueller’s Day off opened the same day.


 Music History:

1977 KC and the Sunshine Band became only the second group after The Jackson Five to achieve four US No.1’s when ‘I’m Your Boogie Man’ went to the top of the charts.
