Southwest Michigan Steelheaders is busy planning the next “Trolling with the Troops” event, which is scheduled for June 21 and June 22.

The tradition brings together boat captains and veterans for a day of camaraderie, fishing, and celebration.

As part of Trolling with the Troops, veterans from southwest Michigan are invited on a fishing trip in Lake Michigan followed by an evening of appreciation, featuring a catered meal, prizes, guest speakers, and live entertainment.

Southwest Michigan Steelheaders says everyone will meet June 22 at designated dock locations along the St. Joseph River in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, and throughout the day, participants will reel in the excitement as they compete in the big fish contest and enjoy the beauty of Lake Michigan.

The highlight is the ceremonial boat parade, set to begin at 1 p.m. on the 22nd led by the U.S. Coast Guard. It’ll navigate through the St. Joseph pier heads with onlookers from the Stevensville American Legion and local police and fire departments.

The public is encouraged to come out to cheer on the procession.
