Coming to the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship this May will be a Field of Honor to pay respect to those who have served their country.

The Exchange Club of Southwest Michigan’s Jim Ashbrook tells us the group teams up with Lest We Forget to plant flags in honor of veterans.

“In any form, whether they’re alive, they’re active in the military at this time, or if they have passed,” Ashbrook said. “We do that by the purchase of a flag. It’s an approximately 11 by 11 sign that fits on the flag. Then people can actually retrieve that flag and sign at the conclusion of the event.”

The flags will be planted near the 18th fairway at Harbor Shores. Ashbrook says the two organizations have staged Fields of Honor before, and they’re always an impressive sight.

Just amazing. They’re about 10 feet apart. They’re up on bicycle racks and just fantastic to see them all blowing in the wind.”

Anyone can purchase a flag to honor a veteran, and organizations and businesses can do the same with an honorary flag avenue also being planned. The proceeds go to the Exchange Club and Lest We Forget.

The Field of Honor is being limited to 300 flags and they’re first come, first serve. You can learn more right here.
