Coloma Community Schools is asking voters to approve two bonds in the May election.

The plan is a scaled down version of a ballot proposal narrowly rejected by voters last year.

The district is now seeking a bond of $12.48 million for facility improvements focused on upgrading student learning spaces and addressing other operational needs. It would be a 0.9 mill tax increase.

The second bond would be $11.9 million with a 0.85 mill tax increase. It would be used to install a new HVAC system at the elementary and high school buildings and to replace the aging Alwood Gym space.

The school district says the proposals would allow it to provide “future-ready learning updates to aging academic spaces for all Coloma students and, most importantly, keep students warm, safe, and dry.”

The election will be May 7.
