A new data breach has been detected at Corewell Health, but it does not affect customers in southwest Michigan.

The Michigan Attorney General’s office this week notified the public about a second data breach involving Corewell since November. Like the first, this new breach affects southeast Michigan.

Corewell says population health management platform HealthEC has been affected nationwide by a data security event that happened earlier this year. It affects about one million people, again, not here in southwest Michigan.

Corewell in southeast Michigan worked with HealthEC to identify high-risk patients, close gaps in care, and recognize barriers to optimal care. The customers who may have been affected would have received notices from Corewell.

The breach reported this week does not affect southwest Michigan systems like MyChart.
