Police are watching out for drunk drivers this weekend, and especially tonight.

Michigan State Police Lieutenant Rene Gonzalez tells us the day before Thanksgiving is the biggest bar night of the year.

“We know that there are going to be a lot of people going to bars or a friend’s because they all don’t have to work tomorrow on Thanksgiving,” Gonzalez said. “A lot of them might overdo it a little bit.”

Gonzalez says those who plan to drink need to arrange for a ride home. Police will catch those who drive drunk, and those drivers could spend Thanksgiving in jail.

For anyone in a desperate situation, AAA has activated its Tow 2 Go program for the weekend. That will offer a free two to a safe location within ten miles for anyone who needs it. AAA asks all to consider Tow 2 Go to be a last resort.

The number to call is 1-855-2-Tow-2-Go. The service will be active starting at 6 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.
