Travel started picking up Tuesday for Thanksgiving.
AAA of Michigan’s Adrienne Woodland says 1.7 million Michiganders are traveling more than 50 miles from home, either by vehicle or airplane.
“The busiest travel day is definitely the Wednesday before Thanksgiving,” Woodland said. “That’s definitely one of the busiest days on the roadway, and actually, that’s one of the busiest days to fly. The two busiest days to fly are the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving.”
Woodland says 178,000 Michigan residents are flying, which sets a record since AAA started keeping track of the numbers 23 years ago.
1.5 million Michiganders are traveling by vehicle.
