Two people are facing drug charges following a vehicle search in South Haven on Tuesday. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says its narcotics unit pulled over a 22-year-old man who was suspected of drug trafficking after he committed several traffic violations. The vehicle was towed while the driver and his 20-year-old female companion were allowed to leave. However, a search of the vehicle with the help of K9 Kuno turned up a magnetic storage container on the bottom of the vehicle. Inside were 21 fentanyl pills that were disguised as OxyContin and some cocaine. Police also found a handgun and an extended magazine in the trunk. Once the investigation is complete, police will send a report to the prosecutor for charges.
