Michigan State Police are investigating a death reported at the Watervliet Rest Area #706 on Interstate 94.

Just before 8:30am ET Saturday, law enforcement were called to reports of an unresponsive 43-year-old female at the rest area near Watervliet. MSP Sgt. John Miller from the Niles Post tells us an Indiana woman and her boyfriend were staying in their vehicle overnight at the rest area. When the male woke, he reportedly found his female partner unresponsive. He attempted resuscitation to no avail. When law enforcement arrived they confirmed the woman was deceased.

Officials say the male stated his partner had prior medical issues. It does not appear foul play or illicit drugs are involved though a the Medical Examiner’s office is reviewing and an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
