Set for September 14 is an annual fundraiser for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Michigan. The center’s Stephanie Crider tells us Voices for Children: Memories at Millcreek will be held at The Millcreek Wilde in Watervliet to not only raise money, but also to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the center.

“We’ll be going through some of the memories that we’ve had through the years here, the 20 years here at the CAC,” Crider said. “There will also be dinner provided, there will be a large charcuterie table ready for people to get some snacks, go to the bar and get some drinks, and then dinner will be provided by Mr. Goody’s.”

Crider says the Children’s Advocacy Center works with Child Protective Services, police, and the Berrien County Prosecutor’s office to interview and help children who have been abused.

“We help aid in the investigation of child abuse here in Berrien County and Cass County. We receive referrals from local law enforcement, prosecutors, and Child Protective Services, and we then are able to schedule children for a forensic interview.”

The center is supported with funding from the county, grants, donations, and the annual celebration. Tickets are available now.
