Part of John Beers Road is closed due to a washout.
The village of Stevensville says the westbound lane of John Beers from Red Arrow Highway to I-94 is closed. It’s due to part of the road breaking away in heavy rain over the weekend. The problem was discovered Sunday morning.
A look at the affected area shows a small section of asphalt gone and steel beams jutting into the soil.
Neither the Berrien County Road Department nor the Michigan Department of Transportation is responsible for that stretch of road. The village of Stevensville is working on a fix.
In the meantime, drivers will have to find different routes through. One route is to take Marquette Woods Road to Notre Dame.
