The boil water advisory remains in effects for Lincoln Township, Royalton Township, and part of St. Joseph Township.
The St. Joseph Department of Public Works says the city water department found a major water main break on Saturday near Marquette Woods Road and Hickory Creek. It has since isolated the damaged section and restored system pressure, while the system was flushed Saturday and Sunday. The flushing operation was competed Monday.
The city says residents in the affected areas should continue boiling any water they intend to use for consumption for one minute before use.
Water sampling has begun in the areas where flushing is complete and is expected to be complete Monday afternoon. However, it takes 24 hours to obtain the test results.
If the tests are good and the state of Michigan is satisfied, the Boil Water Advisory could be released by the state on Tuesday. If the tests are not good, then there will be additional tests and the advisory will be extended.
Anyone with questions should contact the city of St. Joseph.
