Governor Gretchen Whitmer officially signed Michigan’s new $24.3 billion education bill into law. During a signing ceremony in Sutton’s Bay, the governor said this bipartisan bill provides a record amount of money to make sure kids are learning.

“This is the highest per-pupil funding in state history, which means more in-class resources for your children and your grandchildren. We’ve increased per-pupil funding by 22% since I took office. We closed the funding gap between districts, so every child gets the same resources no matter what ZIP code they live in.”

The budget also provides free breakfast and lunch at school for 1.4 million Michigan students.
