The latest state budget includes $400,000 for Lincoln Township to complete a sidewalk project. Trustees thanked state Representative Joey Andrews at a Tuesday meeting for securing the funds. Township Supervisor Dick Stauffer told us they’re going to use the funds to complete a project that’s been in the making for more than ten years.
“That’s going to be used to help supplement some other grant dollars that we have forthcoming for the sidewalk on John Beers from South Roosevelt, really the library, to the village limits on both sides of the roads,” Stauffer said. “It’s six feet wide, and it’s going to be a blessing for our residents.”
Stauffer says the work could start in late 2025 or early 2026. Andrews told trustees the 38th Michigan House District got the biggest infusion of cash in the new state budget, although a big part of the reason is the $150 million to reopen the Palisades plant.
