It’s a growing Democratic field looking to replace Michigan U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, who is not running for re-election. Actor, writer, and businessman Hill Harper formally announced his candidacy Wednesday with a mid-day rally in Detroit’s Cadillac Square.
“We are all in this together, and yet the divisiveness in our politics today would make us believe that we don’t have a common goal for freedom, that we don’t have a common purpose to allow for opportunity, even if we look at the corrupt, politicized Supreme Court that we see right now,” Harper said. “It’s now more important than ever that we send a U.S. senator from Michigan that will fight back against that court.”
An Iowa native and Harvard graduate, Harper is making his first venture into politics. He’s perhaps best known for appearances on The Good Doctor and CSI New York.
