There are some huge lottery jackpots tonight and Tuesday night for the Powerball and Mega Millions. Tonight’s Powerball jackpot is $522 million, while Tuesday’s Mega Millions is $400 million. The Michigan Lottery’s Jake Harris was asked if the winner should take a lump sum or payments.
“It all comes down to personal preference whether a person wants to take the lump sum payout or the annuity that pays out of 30 years when they win a jackpot, like the Powerball or the Mega Millions,” Harris said. “I’ve seen it done both ways, and it really comes down to personal preference and that they person wants to do.”
Harris says the odds of winning either jackpot are one in 300 million. However, the odds of winning any prize are one in 24.
