A Paw Paw man is dead following a chase with police on Monday in Van Buren County. Michigan State police say a Bangor Police Department patrol vehicle was chasing a motorcycle on M-43 near 30th Avenue in Arlington Township around 11:30 p.m. when the motorcycle struck a pickup that was backing out of a driveway. The pursuing patrol vehicle then also struck the pickup. The driver of the motorcycle, a 24-year-old Paw Paw man, was killed. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries, as did the police officer. State police have not said why the Bangor police officer was chasing the motorcyclist, whose name has not been released. Traffic on M-43 was backed up for several hours as a result of the crash.
