Lake Michigan College is seeking nominations for its 2023 Alumni Awards. Director of Alumni Engagement Barbara Craig tells us the Lake Michigan College Alumni Association Board of Directors has been giving out the awards since the late 80s to graduates who have distinguished themselves. There are three awards.

“There’s an award for recent graduates, which is the Alumni Achievement Award because it’s fun to see what’s happened in a short span of time for some of our students,” Craig said. “The second one is the Clarence Beckwith Distinguished Alumni Award named after our first president, and that is like a lifetime achievement award for people who have done amazing things in their life or who have done amazing service to the college.”

Craig says the third award is the Alumni Service Award, which has been renamed the Dr. Gladys Peeples-Burks Alumni Service Award in honor of the longtime college advocate who died in February at age 94. The award is for those who have served the community or LMC. Nominations can be made online or by calling Craig. The award recipients will be announced in the fall with a reception in November.
