The City of St Joseph is welcoming a new Municipal Band director, Dr. Jonathan Korzun.
A member of the band himself for 30 years, Dr. Korzun is only the seventh director in the 85-season history of the band. He replaces Dr. Don Moely, who passed away after retiring from the position last year. Dr. Korzun retired as Director of Bands and Instructor of Music Theory at Southwestern Michigan College in July of 2019, having taught there for 28 years.
While at SMC, Dr. Korzun’s duties included conducting the Symphonic Band, Brass Band and Jazz Ensemble, and teaching the four-semester sequence of Music Theory classes.
This summer’s concert series begins Sunday June 25, with the final concert Monday, September 4. For the full schedule, visit the city of St. Joseph website.
