Air Quality Action Day For Much Of Michigan

Another Air Quality Action Day is in effect for millions of people in Michigan due to the smoke that has drifted over the state from wildfires in Canada. The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy says there will be elevated levels of pollution in counties stretching from Monroe to Wexford county and from Lake Huron to Kalamazoo and St. Joseph counties. Governor Whitmer says she’s keeping her eye on the situation.

“This is something that when there is a fire in Canada, it impacts our quality of life, our ability to breathe. This is why our work around climate, our work around improving air quality, water quality is so, so important.”

Authorities recommend that active children and adults, and people with respiratory diseases such as asthma, limit outdoor activity.
