Benton Harbor City Commissioners are seeking a state grant for the resurfacing of Jefferson Street from Pipestone to Highland Avenue. At a Monday meeting, they signed off on a grant application to the Michigan Department of Transportation for a grant through the Transportation Economic Development Fund Program for Villages and Small Cities. The city is seeking $192,950, which would be met with a local match, making the total project cost $385,900. Abonmarche evaluated local streets that are in poor shape and not proposed for future underground utility work. It then named Jefferson Street as a good fit for the grant.
