A Benton harbor man is facing up to 20 years in prison after an investigation related to child pornography.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force announced Wednesday that 44-year-old Jamie Lee Flewellyn has been arrested and charged with aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime. Each charge carries a sentence of up to 10 years if convicted.

According to MSP, the investigation stemmed from a cyber tip regarding his online activity involving the uploading of child sexual exploitation. The investigation resulted in digital evidence being seized from his residence.

Flewellen was arraigned in the 5th District Court on Monday.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit encourages parents to speak to their children about the safe use of the internet. There are many resources available to parents to assist in keeping children safe online. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provides a comprehensive list of resources on their website at missingkids.org.
