Are you ready for summer, hot weather and cranking up your air conditioning? Consumers Energy says it’s prepared to meet Michigan’s energy needs this summer.

“A lot of people will be thinking about the readiness of the grid when we start turning on our air conditioners and things like that,” says spokesman Brian Wheeler. “The good news is we at Consumers Energy are ready for the summer. We’ve been planning ahead and are confident that we have all the energy needs that we need that will be fulfilled through a mix of coal, natural gas, renewable resources and more to make sure we’re serving Michigan this summer.”

He says they are continuing the rollout of its Clean Energy Plan, closing all of its coal-burning power plants on one of the nations most aggressive time frames. To lower your bill, he suggests shifting energy use away from peak times between 2 and 7 p.m.
