Congressman Bill Huizenga is back in Washington after taking a trip overseas during the spring holidays. He tells us he and other members of Congress headed to Jordan to talk with King Al-Hussein, a staunch U.S. ally. They learned more about the partnership between the U.S. and Jordan.

“We had  a chance to talk to both U.S. and Jordanian military leadership, and had a great opportunity to have a Sunday breakfast with troops from around the country, including two from Michigan.”

Huizenga says after that, he headed to Israel and spent some time in Jerusalem.

“It was in the middle of Ramadan, Passover, and Easter. So, literally the three greatest religions on the face of the Earth, which all have their origins right on Mount Zion in the old town of Jerusalem, were all having their holiest weeks.”

From there, he went to Switzerland to talk banking regulations with Swiss officials. They discussed the situation with Credit Suisse and UBS. Huizenga says he later talked with U.S. human rights officials about what’s happening with refugees from Ukraine. Huizenga says his week and a half trip was filled with contrasts as he jetted from the desert to the Alps.
