1892 The first newspaper ad for an Ice Cream Sundae appeared in a newspaper in Ithaca New York. The ad read: Cherry Sunday! New 10 cent ice cream specialty served only at Platt & Colt’s Famous Day and Night Soda Fountain.

1978 The Amazing Spider-Man debuted on CBS.

 

Music History:

1975 Minnie Riperton went to No.1 on the US singles chart with the ‘Loving You.’  It was produced by Stevie Wonder and the singers only US chart hit. Riperton died of cancer on 12th July 1979.
