A procession is planned for Monday in Van Buren County for a road commission worker killed in the line of duty. 58-year-old Rene Rangel was killed on Friday, March 3 in a construction zone. He was hit by a vehicle. His funeral is scheduled for Monday, March 13 at noon and the processional will be held in advance of the funeral. It will leave Faulkner’s Pickle Storage in Decatur at 10:10 a.m. arriving in front of the Stark/Newell funeral home at 10:15 a.m. The route will continue on M-51 and proceed into the village of Decatur. The family has asked that the funeral be open to family, friends, and the Van Buren County Road Commission. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department and multiple fire departments are planning traffic controls for the procession. The Van Buren County Road Commission will be closed for the day on Monday for the funeral.
