Berrien County is likely to miss the worst effects of that winter storm that’s causing closings across the state. National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Roller tells us the temperatures in Berrien County aren’t cold enough to cause the problems likely to be faced east and north of us. Van Buren County could see some ice and snow.

“Areas farther to our north as you head to Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo have cooler temperatures and will have a better chance to see higher accumulations of ice as well as snow,” Roller said.

Roller recommends taking some precautions if you’re going to travel into Van Buren County or points north tomorrow.

“You could potentially see some impacts from that linger into Thursday morning as things continue to try to thaw out during that time period. So, yes, Van Buren is in that area of impact for sure.”

Roller is expecting temperatures to rise throughout the day and rain in Berrien County to taper off as morning approaches. He says other areas of the Midwest, like Minnesota, are getting slammed.
