The Berrien County Road Department is planning a possible change to a Lincoln Township intersection to improve safety. Speaking to colleagues Thursday, Berrien County Commissioner Julie Wuerfel said the administration committee heard this week from department Director Mark Heyliger. He told them about the intersection of Linco Road and Lincoln Avenue.

“[It’s] a major accident area that most of us in Lincoln Township know about,” Wuerfel said. “They just had another accident. If they have one more accident before May, it will be a four-way stop.”

Wuerfel said it’s not the safest intersection.

“They’re at the point of I guess enough people have had property damage, and probably loss of life, because that is a horrible intersection.”

Also Thursday, Wuerfel said the road department’s program of paying for CDL training for new employees is making a difference. They’ve been able to hire eight staff members who have completed that training, making them eight for eight.
