The South Haven City Council on Monday unanimously approved the SHOUT proposed construction of a wintertime gathering place at Dyckman Park. The project earlier received endorsements from the Downtown Development Authority and the South Haven Parks Commission. SHOUT president Bob Copping told the council about the money raised for the project.

“With this, we have raised a total of $115,000, which is even more than the $100,000 estimated cost,” said Copping. “As always, SHOUT has shown great respect for preserving and enhancing the environment and the natural beauty. No trees will be removed, and the site landscaping will blend in with the present landscaping.”

The Four Seasons at Dyckman project will create a wintertime gathering place in the downtown park, visible from Phoenix Street. It will have a fireplace and complement the nearby pavilion’s ice rink. Officials with SHOUT are planning to have the project ready for winter in 2023-24. The $115,000 raised exceeded the estimated costs by $10,000.
