Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School’s elementary campus has an improved playground, thanks to support from the community. School co-director Alyssa Konkel tells us an effort to improve the playground started in August with leveling the ground. Since then, volunteers helped provide new playground equipment, swings, borders and mulch. The kids were anxious to get out there.

“The kids were so excited because they’ve been watching the process through the window,” Konkel said. “They saw the big excavating machine and other things. They were able to go outside and see some of it, but not play on that part of the playground. So, they had been anticipating to play on it.”

Boy Scouts Troop 624 helped clear weeds in preparation, Pat Glotzbach contributed a new storage shed, and Adent’s Supply Company donated and delivered crushed concrete for the base. B&Z Company gave their time to excavate and install the new equipment donated by Deacon Charles and Sue Thelen. The work was all finished in November. Konkel and Principal Sherri Kirschner says they want to stress their gratitude to those who helped. The next step is to raise funds for a fence.
