This is time change weekend when you will turn your clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday. Henry Ford Health sleep medicine Dr. David Gessert says any time there’s a sleep change, it can mess up your sleep and internal clock.

“Falling back definitely is the easier of the two changes,” says Gessert. “It can result in extra sleep if people go to bed at a normal time. But there is some research out there that shows people tend to stay up later and use the extra as opposed to gathering sleep from it.”

Gessert says it can take a couple days or a week for people to adapt to the time change. He says more than a third of the population battle insomnia or other sleep issues.
