As the number of absentee ballot voters in Michigan quickly approaches the two-million mark, the state is out with a reminder for those who have yet to register to vote. With the deadline to be able to register online, or by mail having already passed, Jake Rollow, chief external affairs officer with the Michigan Department of State, says for those interested, you’ll have to pay a visit to your local clerk.
“They can do that up until 8 p.m. on Election Day, and when they’re there if they so choose, they can sign and submit their absentee ballot all in that same trip.”
To date, over 1.8-million state residents have requested absentee ballots for the upcoming election, with over 770,000 of those ballots having already been returned. Both are roughly 50% higher than the pre-COVID levels seen two weeks out from Michigan’s last gubernatorial election, back in 2018.
