Southwest Michigan could see a few snow flurries today, but it’s a different story in the Upper Peninsula. National Weather Service Marquette meteorologist, Don Rolfson, says parts of the UP are expecting a lot of snow.

“In the far west, they may end up with snow totals around eight inches. It looks like the heaviest snowfall will be in parts of north-central upper Michigan near Negaunee, where they could end up with 18″ of snow by the time it winds down.”

Rolfson says this is a lot of snow for the UP for mid-October, although he says there was snow on October 7th several years ago.
